The temptation of making object has been always part of shaqayeq Arabi’s work and materialized in many projects. She has been working with variety of material from thrown away plastic bottles to newspaper, used wallpapers, found pieces in junkyard, etc.
In 20 years of her career she has had the constant swing from painting on canvas to making 3dimentional objects and installation, although they are all following each other, in the same line and character.
The series of Rolled canvases is not either Painting or Object, is both together. By using and recycling canvases of her old paintings and shaped and fixed them shaqayeq transform the painting to an sculpture in a new forms and material.
